How does the reading/spelling lesson work?

It’s simple!

First, we have the child do some reading with the Unique Teach Reading Program App.

Next, we have the child write the same words they just read.

For example, say the child reads “A ball.” Then you can have the child write “A ball.”

This is not the kind of writing where the child is an author and creates their own content for writing.

Rather, the adult tells the child exactly what to write, selecting words, phrases, and sentences from the app that the child struggled to read.

For example, say the child struggled to read the sentence “A ball can go up.”

So you can have the child write “A ball can go up.”

With this method, the reading and spelling reinforce each other. The reading helps the spelling, and the spelling helps the reading.

In fact, the child actually learns how to read & spell much faster by doing the spelling at the same time!

So the lesson goes like this: the child reads some, then writes some, then reads, then writes, and so forth!

But how exactly do we teach the spelling part?

Now that you understand the game plan, you need to learn EXACTLY how to teach the spelling part.

We can’t just let the child copy words from the app, or write words down for the child to copy, or give the child lists of words to memorize!
