How fast can I see results?

The Unique Teach Reading Program App for Dyslexia is designed for parents who are willing to dedicate time to work constructively with their child and want to see real reading progress as soon as possible.


I recommend setting aside an hour of time to watch the beginning level training video in its entirety, and then working with your child for about 5 to 10 minutes a day, at first.


Once the child gets better at decoding, you can gradually increase the length of each session.


FOR BEST RESULTS AND FASTER PROGRESS:


- Find a corner of the house where the child can focus that is free from noise, distractions, and people walking by. Your child does not need access to a table as they will be reading using an ipad or tablet.


- Follow the instructions of the training video religiously without changing the program. Do not skip levels or stories, even though some of the content looks "easy." Do not mix-in outside teaching methods from other programs.


- Do not leave the child alone to self-teach or play with the app. You must supervise and making sure your child is doing the work correctly.


- Run the Unique Teach Reading Program App on a tablet or ipad for larger font. The app is available for cell phones, but younger kids do better with larger font.


-Learning can be sped up significantly by including a writing/spelling segment in the lesson, in which the child gets extra practice by spelling the very same words they read. This is all explained in the beginning level training video.


What's the App's trick that gets Dyslexic and other Neurodiverse kids to finally read?

Here are 4 reasons why the Unique Teach Reading Program App for Dyslexia works:


- Methods that avoid memorization and "sight words". Memorization and "sight words" promote reading by teaching children to recognize whole words. Some kids get by with this method. However, others (such as many neurodiverse children) benefit more by understanding how the parts of words come together to form the words. In order to get the this foundation, the Unique Teach Reading Program App teaches children to "sound out" words by combining the sounds and figuring out what the words say. This process is similar to solving a math problem. This is a more intelligent way for the child to read, and also promotes better spelling.


- The child finally understands the vowels of words. In English, vowels are quite tricky and it is easy to believe that the solution is to just "memorize everything." However, often Neurodiverse children benefit by understanding the vowel sounds. In the Beginning level the child learns the crucial foundation for sounding out the vowels, and then builds upon this foundation in the Intermediate level.


- The decoding process is made easier for young children's working memories. Children are often taught to decode words starting at the beginning of the word and reading left to right. For example, if the word is "cat", children are taught to read by saying the sounds C-A-T. However, for long words, saying each individual letter sound from left to right is cumbersome and mentally exhausting. Many Neurodiverse kids can't keep up this process and wind up guessing, winging it, or looking at the pictures for clues. The Unique Teach Reading Program App overcomes this hurdle by having children first start with the vowel, which gets the child to blend with much less mental effort.


- All reading skills are taught during the actual reading process. Reading skills are often taught to children as separate activities. For example, a child may learn the letter Aa with a worksheet, the phonic OA with a video game, etc. This makes it hard for the Neurodiverse child to read because the child is left to put all these separate "puzzle pieces of information" together. The material my child is presently reading seems more advanced than what I see in the demo videos.

It is not uncommon that a child may be on a “high” reading level, but never got the right foundation. This is a main reason why some children continue to struggle and don't read well consistently. The child is reading books that are too hard and they never got the basics down.


This issue is quite common for children that learned reading through flashcards and memorization, as well as through worksheets on isolated reading skills, such as phonics activities, word sorts, word family activities, etc.


The only way to fix the child's lack of foundation is to go back to the basics and teach the child how to sound out words properly, and to do so during the actual reading task.

What ages are appropriate for the Unique Teach Reading Program App?
